Project Outline

This project seeks to increase the adaptive capacities of the most vulnerable and food-insecure communities residing in Rasht valley, Khatlon, and Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Regions through stimulation of a demand-based model for climate information and use of ICT/mobile platforms to enable public and private sector participation, innovation, and market development.

  1. Digitization of climate data, risk mapping, capacity building for climate forecasting, and a climate information delivering mechanism.
  2. Promoting community awareness on climate impact and adaption actions integrated into district development plan.
  3. Building climate resilience at the community level through diversification of livelihoods and improved water management.
  4. Facilitation of community links with markets.

Potential Indicators of Key Impacts

Expected total number of direct and indirect beneficiaries, disaggregated by gender (reduced vulnerability or increased resilience):

  1. Direct beneficiaries: 50,000 persons (52% of total beneficiaries will be female)
  2. Indirect beneficiaries: 70,000 persons (1.5% of the total population)
