Project Outline

This project seeks to promote a paradigm shift towards the standardized and mainstream use of science-based climate information to support resilient development pathways, through the strengthening and application of Climate Information Services in five targeted development sectors: tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, water, and fisheries.

Project Description

< Major Project Components>

  1. Development and delivery of a Climate Information Services (CIS) system including online CIS outputs, a portal, an early warning system (EWS), and a web-based decision support system (DSS).
  2. Installation and commissioning of a new Doppler radar system.
  3. Digitization and collection of climate data and installation of infrastructure for data collection.
  4. Capacity development activities including new sector-specific CIS action plans, guidance materials, and databases.

Potential Indicators of Key Impacts

Expected total number of direct and indirect beneficiaries, disaggregated by gender (reduced vulnerability or increased resilience):

  1. Direct beneficiaries: 86,910 persons (55% of total beneficiaries will be female)
  2. Indirect beneficiaries: 173,820 persons
