Utilize a climate projection tool “ClimoCast” for the NAP process
March, 2022
The aim of this e-learning course is to learn how the climate projection tool “ClimoCast” can be used in the NAP process. The tool covers all countries around the world, and allows users to compare different climate scenarios and models, as well as downscale the results to the sub-national level, which is very useful for adaptation planning. The course starts with crucial background knowledge on climate change adaptation and future climate projection, followed by a demonstration of how to use ClimoCast. Finally, the course shows how this tool can be used to develop more accurate NAPs, taking into account uncertainties in future climate, following the UNFCCC Technical guidelines for the NAP process.
Lesson 1
Climate Change Adaptation and Future Climate Projection
In order to adapt to climate change, it is essential to understand how climate change occurs, how to assess its impacts, and how to predict future climate change and uncertainty. Lesson 1 builds on this basic knowledge and also looks at the basic concepts of climate models.
Lesson 2
Generating data from ClimoCast
In Lesson 2, the developer of ClimoCast demonstrates how to search and extract data from this very simple and user-friendly tool. Please go to "All Lessons" to watch all 4 videos of Lesson 2.
Lesson 3
Using “ClimoCast” in the NAP process
Lesson 3 explains how the data extracted from ClimoCast can be used in the NAP process. Here you will be able to grasp the overall picture of the NAP process, as well as learn how to finance and develop plans and policies that take into account climate change scenarios and uncertainty.
