AP-PLAT participated in JICA's training course on "Adaptation to Climate Change"

Government officials from Albania, Egypt, Fiji, Jordan, Tajikistan, Tuvalu, and Bangladesh visited the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) on September 13, 2023, as part of JICA's training course on "Adaptation to Climate Change." The course aimed to enhance their capacity to plan and implement adaptation strategies in their respective countries.

At the Center for Climate Change Adaptation, NIES, we conducted lecture titled “Overview of Japan’s Governance System on Climate Change Adaptation and the Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (AP-PLAT)”. During the lecture, Ms Yuka Suzuki explained the Japan’s governance system regarding climate change adaptation and two major information platform: Adaptation Platform Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (A-PLAT) and AP-PLAT. Climate change adaptation actions in Japan has legally started in December 2018 when the Climate Change Adaptation Act came into effect.

During the seminar, ClimoCast, a climate projection tool, was introduced, including a hands-on demonstration of how to use ClimoCast for future temperature and rainfall projections in one of the participants' home regions.
It was a pleasure to welcome government officials from a wide variety of countries to our institute, NIES. We hope that this seminar at NIES will assist their countries in enhancing their resilience to climate change.
