Lesson 2Six steps of disaster risk assessment
Lesson 2 teaches you how to assess the compound and cascading disaster risks in your community. By carrying out a risk assessment, you can determine the nature and extent of disaster risk due to compound or cascading phenomena. Similar to a single disaster risk assessment, the lesson takes you through the 6-step process for disaster risk assessment:
- Hazard analysis
- Exposure assessment
- Vulnerability assessment
- Risk mapping
- Risk scenario development
- Resources and capacity mapping
You can learn how to consider compound and cascading hazards on each of these six steps of participatory disaster risk assessment.
