Publication of Report on Climate and Hydrological Changes in Bhutan under CMIP6
A new report titled “Assessment of Climate and Hydrological Changes in Bhutan under CMIP6” has been published by the National Centre for Hydrology and Meteorology (NCHM), Bhutan.
The report presents an assessment of projected changes in climate and hydrological conditions in Bhutan based on the latest CMIP6 climate model outputs. It provides analysis of future trends in temperature, precipitation, and related hydrological variables, as well as potential implications for water resources and climate-sensitive sectors.
The National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), through its Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (A-PLAT, Japanese website), contributed to the preparation of this report. The key aspect of the collaboration was the provision of training by NIES researchers to Bhutanese experts on accessing and utilizing climate projection data from A-PLAT Pro, which informed the analysis presented in the report. The application of climate projection data and analytical approaches has helped strengthen the evidence base for climate change adaptation in Bhutan.
The publication is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts by policymakers and practitioners to enhance climate resilience and inform adaptation planning in Bhutan.
