Development of the Thailand Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (T-PLAT) in Cooperation with Japan
Following the establishment of the Asia-Pacific Adaptation Information Platform (AP-PLAT) to share regional climate change risk information through an online network, the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with Thailand on May 17, 2018. This agreement aimed to support the “Cooperation for Development of Information Infrastructure for Climate Change Adaptation in Thailand.”
As part of this initiative, the Thailand Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (T-PLAT) was developed with two key objectives:
- To create a platform providing comprehensive information on climate risks and adaptation measures in Thailand.
- To facilitate data integration between T-PLAT and regional platforms, such as AP-PLAT, thereby enhancing data dissemination across Southeast Asia.
MOEJ assigned the Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC), in collaboration with Green Pacific Co., Ltd., as project consultants. They worked closely with Thailand’s Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) and the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion (DEQP) to implement the project.
With technical support from Japan, Thailand successfully launched the T-PLAT website, presenting climate adaptation information through an intuitive and visually engaging infographic format. This achievement marks a significant step toward strengthening climate resilience and knowledge-sharing in the region.
