We are excited to invite you to attend our seminar on 11 November 2023 at the 28th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP28) in United Arab Emirates as a part of the Japan Pavilion program.

■Objective

We will engage in discussions regarding scientific tools and synergies aimed at enhancing climate change adaptation efforts. The platform AP-PLAT, managed by the Center for Climate Change Adaptation (CCCA) at the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), provides ClimoCast, a tool for visualizing future climate change projection. The Risk and Resilience Portal, operated by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), aids in comprehending and assessing the escalating cascade of risks exacerbated by climate change. We will demonstrate the use of these tools to collect data for climate change impact assessments customized to the countries and regions of the participants. Discussions will provide an opportunity to share findings and receive feedback from international organizations and national administrators involved in adaptation planning, deepening their understanding of these scientific tools. By introducing state-of-the-art scientific tools and data and facilitating discussions with potential users at COP28, our seminar is dedicated to strengthening the decision-making process on climate change through the utilization of scientific insights.
